What an Amazing Wedding!
Paul and Tina's wedding was one of the best nights of my life. There is so much that I want to say about the day leading up to it, the ceremony and the reception, but I'm still writing it all up. The good news is that the Asbury Park Press has beaten me to it and I can share that story with you. It says Tina was in the hospital Thursday and Friday. She was in the ER for about 5 hours on Friday to get a chest xray and some fluids, but the article made it sound worse than that.

Here are the pictures from the ceremony that the paper took:

If you were there and have pictures, please send them to SupportTina@gmail.com . If they are too big, you can upload them to a site like Photobucket, Flickr or Picasa and send the link to that gmail account. Since they don't make bridesmaids' dresses with pockets for cameras, we're waiting anxiously on family, friends and the professional photographer.

The day is almost here
The day is almost here
Well, it's already Wednesday on the East coast which means Tina and Paul's wedding is only 3 days away. I am so incredibly excited. Although it's been extremely stressful for Tina, after this is over, this cancer thing will be a breeze.
I leave for the airport in 9 hours. I'm mostly packed and ready to hit the hay, but I really doubt there will be much sleep tonight. I think all of the details that can be dealt with on my end are handled, but it still won't stop the tape reel from playing over and over of this checklist. Was this done, was that done? Yes. No wait, I still need to call...STOP THE MADNESS! As the maid of honor, my job is to take any stress off the bride. Stress? Bring it on! I got this!
I'll post pictures as soon as I can (unlike my extremely long breaks I've been taking between posts...oops, my bad). You'll get the see the amateur party pics just as soon as I have computer access. Love you all for reading and supporting. Wedding, here we come!

The recent MD Anderson visit
As per usual, the trip was great. I miss mom and Tina both so much in between visits and I wish they weren't trip that are just a couple of days at a time.
Tina and I watched Goonies...well, some of it. Of course we quoted a lot of lines, "Stay to the right!" and "con las cucarachas para dos semanas sin agua y sin comida." Because they had subtitles, that's how I learned my first Spanish words. We also visited our parents' house which is currently on the market. It was strange to see it empty. Then we visited my mom's friend Kimberly. Sadly, that was about it; then they were off to Houston again. Luckily, the wedding is just around the corner.
The doctors performed tests at MD Anderson. The results were not what we were hoping for. For some reason, they haven't found a chemotherapy/drug that seems to work on Tina's bones, brain, and organs all at the same time. They seem to be one or another. The most recent bone scan showed no major change in the cancer in her bones, although the scan was "foggy" or hard to read. The scan of the brain showed no growth. Phew! Unfortunately, the test of her organs did not yield the same results. It showed more leisions in her liver and lungs and also fluid in one of her lungs.
Obviously no one would be happy with the news, but she is looking forward the wedding and staying strong as always. She has so much to fight for and the beginning of her life together with Paul that this isn't going to keep her down. It's all about attitude...and this week, the attitude is love. If anything's going to spread, let's have it be love. The next time you say, "I love you" don't let the words just come out, pause and say it like you mean it because deep down you really do. Whether it's to a good friend that you wouldn't normally say it to and it might seem a little awkward, or to a relative that you're not that close to, or to a loved one that you tell all the time, say it like you mean it.

We did it!
The fundraiser was a HUGE success. I had my doubts a week before it ended, but people really came through. We raised $6,305 to help with Tina's wedding and medical bills.
And the winner is...
KELLY LUSK!!!
If anyone has any good ideas for other fundraisers, please let me know because those hospital bills do not stop coming in. Tina still needs the bathroom renovated.
Tina will be back in Houston for another MD Anderson appointment this week. I'm excited that I get to see her again so soon. Please pray for good news.
The wedding is less than a month away! I'm getting so excited, I can hardly wait. I can only imagine how she feels.
There's a new email address for people to contact for any questions about Tina. Click here to send an email. If you wish to send her a personal email, Click here

Tina's Famous!
After a news paper article and then a radio station, Tina is becoming a fixture in the press. Maybe soon she'll have her own swarm of paparazzi. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, though she is in the Asbury Park Press again which means she was picked up by about 230 other online publications. I remember when I first started this blog, I had googled "Tina Tinervia" and she had 15 hits, mostly by being on social networking sites. Go ahead, google her now...almost 900 hits. Okay Oprah, time for you to pick up this story. Ellen? Regis and Kelly?

We had a little glitch with the fundraiser, but we're up and running again. You cannot buy raffle tickets. Now don't freak out, you can still win a cruise, but you are only entered in the raffle as a thank you for a donation to Tina. That's the glitch. There is no gambling allowed through that button on the right, but the rules of the cruise remain the same so please continue to spread the word. There are only 20 days left until the drawing!

Austin, MD Anderson and Fundraising
Written 4/22/10
It's been a busy week for Tina. She flew from NJ to Houston on Thursday and got to see our cousin's T-ball game with the family. I was very happy that she traveled to Austin to see me again. We watched movies, ate pizza and ice cream sundaes then went to a happy hour with my mom's friends. A couple of Tina's friends from school were there too. Even with the rain on the patio, it was a great time.
Unfortunately, the weekend flew by and she had to go back to Houston for her Monday appointment at MD Anderson. She had scans done to check if there was any progression of the cancer. There are no new tumors in her bones or brain, although it has developed a little more in her liver and lungs. We are hoping with this new chemo she is on that it will soon shrink the new growth. The struggle is finding a chemo that works equally well on both. She has found that the different chemotherapies seem to work better on one part than another. Unfortunately scans can't be done every week so it's a waiting game to see if the new therapy is actually working.
